Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Life & Soul Purpose Coach?

A Life & Soul Purpose Coach supports you when you are going through a life transition such as high school graduation, desiring to change majors in college, graduating from college, looking to change jobs, having a child enter elementary school, becoming an empty-nester, retiring, etc. A Life & Soul Purpose Coach also helps you when feel like something is missing in your life but you’re unsure of exactly what that missing piece is. A coach does not give you any answers or tell you what to do. Instead, they guide you through a journey of deconditioning, self-discovery, aligning with your soul’s purpose (also known as your dharma), and keep you accountable for your actions. Through the coaching process, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your truth, find comfort in and trust your authenticity, and embody your highest self. You’ll walk away with a clear process of how you can come back to your center when life inevitably throws you off balance, and have a strategic plan moving you forward into a life of fulfillment, abundance, ease, and flow.

What is the difference between a coach, therapist, counselor, and psychologist?

To further the above explanation, coaches work primarily in the present and future, providing guidance, support, and accountability as clients pursue their desired outcomes. Therapists and counselors are trained professionals who address a wide range of mental, emotional, and psychological challenges. They work with clients to heal past traumas, manage mental health issues, and develop coping strategies. Therapists and counselors are equipped to diagnose and treat mental health conditions using various therapeutic approaches. Psychologists are professionals who specialize in the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. They assess, diagnose, and treat psychological disorders using evidence-based interventions. Psychologists often work closely with medical professionals and may integrate psychological principles with medical treatments. When combined, working with both a coach and a therapist/psychologist is incredibly transformational.

What are the requirements for coaching?

Coaching is not right for everyone at all times. For coaching to be effective, you must be ready to dive deep, explore your innermost self, and challenge your own thoughts. At Life Prep, thinking about something is only half of the work. You must also be motivated to step outside your comfort zone, try new things, and be held accountable for actions you do or do not take. You can use this checklist to further evaluate your readiness.

What is dharma?

Dharma is a Sanskrit term that encompasses one's true purpose, duty, or calling in life. It reflects an individual's unique gifts, talents, passions, and values. In the context of my coaching practice, guiding clients toward discovering their dharma involves helping them uncover their authentic desires and aligning their actions with their soul's purpose. By living in alignment with their dharma, individuals can experience greater fulfillment and a sense of purpose.

Is coaching religious? What is the difference between religion and spirituality?

Life Prep programs are NOT religious. We draw wisdom from a number of ancient traditions to help us question more deeply, and utilize scientifically proven techniques to support any desired changes. We are firm believers that both spirituality and religion are personal journeys in which one may or may not choose to engage, however, we do see that those embarking upon a coaching program typically embrace their own spiritual quest simultaneously.

Religion typically refers to organized systems of worship, beliefs, rituals, and doctrines that are shared by a group of people. It often includes a prescribed set of practices and a hierarchical structure. Religions may provide a collective framework for moral and ethical guidance, a sense of community, and rituals for spiritual connection. On the other hand, spirituality is a personal and individual experience of connection with something greater than oneself. It often involves a search for meaning, purpose, and transcendence. Spirituality can exist within or outside the boundaries of any particular religious tradition. It focuses on personal growth, inner exploration, and understanding one's place in the universe.

Using various tools and techniques, I help you clarify your goals, identify obstacles, and create an action plan to achieve your desired outcomes. I also provide perspective, accountability, and ongoing support as you encounter any challenges and curveballs that come up along the way.

How long does the coaching process usually take?

The coaching process varies depending on the individual and their specific needs. Some clients may benefit from just a few sessions, while others may choose to continue for several months. Together, we will assess your progress and determine the optimal duration to help you achieve your goals effectively.

Is coaching confidential?

Yes, individual coaching sessions are completely confidential. Your privacy is of the utmost importance, and I adhere to ethical guidelines that prioritize confidentiality and trust. Your personal information will not be shared without your explicit consent.

Can coaching replace therapy or counseling?

Coaching is not intended to replace therapy or counseling. If you are experiencing severe mental health issues or require treatment for psychological disorders, seeking the assistance of a licensed therapist or counselor would be more appropriate. However, coaching can be a valuable complement to therapy, focusing on goal setting, personal growth, and creating positive changes in your life.
